Notorious B.I.G. died 19 years ago this week, on March 9th, 1997. In tribute to the game-changing Brooklyn rapper, one of the many MCs he’s inspired, Joey Bada$$, has delivered a new track called “Brooklyn’s Own”.

Statik Selektah provides a beat of smooth jazz notes, all gentle piano coos and jabbing guitar plucks. Bada$$ delivers his typically sturdy flow, dropping references to the neighborhoods of his hometown and homages to the late B.I.G. “I said, shit ain’t been the same since we made Killuminati,” he spits on the first verse. “Hex across my chest see it written across my body/ Bury me in gold 47 karat casket/ Resurrect my soul come back as your favorite rapper.”

Take a listen below to the newest track from the newest cast member of USA Network’s Mr. Robot.
