Parquet Court share new single “Outside” — listen

on March 24, 2016, 4:45pm

Parquet Courts are set to release the follow-up to last year’s Monastic Living EP on April 8th with their new full-length album, Human PerformanceThey’ve already debuted tracks called “Dust” and “Berlin Got Blurry”, as well as a live studio performance of “Outside”. Now, the band has shared the studio version of the latter track via Spotify.

Though a simple, nodding garage track, the themes therein are anything but basic. Andrew Savage has always shown a knack for tackling metaphysical topics with a twisting lyricism, something he once again demonstrates on “Outside”. “I saw a name in the graveyard that I knew/ Glowing like the neon in a lounge light,” he sings to open the track. “Spelled just the same as the cringe that crawls through you/ As it passes slowly through a fast night.”

It’s contemplative and chill-inducing poetics, and Spotify users can hear the whole thing below.
