Blink-182 shares “Bored to Death”, first single since Tom DeLonge’s departure — listen

on April 27, 2016, 5:55pm

Blink-182 have returned with their first single since the departure of founding guitarist Tom DeLonge last year. The four-minute cut is titled “Bored to Death” and features Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba, who has stepped in to fill DeLonge’s Vans shoes.

“Save your breath, I’m nearly bored to death,” Mark Hoppus declares on the track’s booming chorus. While it’s a brand new chapter in the band’s career, this comeback single proves they haven’t lost their touch for big, albeit harmless, pop punk hooks.

Update: As Fuse points out, Blink has teased another new song called “Built This Pool”:

“Bored to Death” is presumably off Blink-182’s upcoming album, California. The proper follow-up to 2011’s Neighborhoods is due out sometime this year and features production from Goldfinger’s John Feldmann. Update: California is due out on July 1st.

According to KROQ Music Director Lisa Worden, the group’s seventh studio LP “sounds like Blink but it’s not anything that we’ve heard before,” adding, “For fans of the band, they’re going to be super happy with it. It starts with Travis’ unmistakable drumming — it’s just that signature Blink sound — you immediately know who it is.”

Update: In support of the new album, Blink-182 have announced a massive summer tour.
