Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man movie officially titled Spider-Man: Homecoming

on April 13, 2016, 10:15am

Spider-Man officially swings into the Marvel Cinematic Universe on May 6th with the release of Captain America: Civil War. After that, he’ll spin off into his own solo adventure co-produced by Sony and Marvel/Disney. Last night at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Sony revealed exactly what the film will be called: Spider-Man: Homecoming.

The title became heavily rumored earlier this month when it was revealed Sony had purchased the domain spidermanhomecomingthemovie.com, and Sony motion picture chairman Tom Rothman confirmed the subtitle yesterday evening. Homecoming is a bit of a play on words, as it refers to both the fact that this Peter Parker (played by Tom Holland) will be in high school and that this will be the first Spider-Man movie as part of the MCU.
