The 26-year-old Los Angeles native last appeared on screen in the Coen brothers’ Hail Caesar!, playing the role of Hobie Doyle. His filmography also includes roles in Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine, Park Chan-wook’s Stoker, Richard LaGravenese’s Beautiful Creatures, and a forthcoming Howard Hughes biopic from Warren Beatty.
Upwards of 2,500 actors tried out for the highly sought-after role as young Han Solo in the forthcoming film helmed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 Jump Street, The LEGO Movie). Along with Ehrenreich, Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction), and Taron Egerton (The Kingsman, Eddie the Eagle) received final consideration for the role.
The as-yet-untitled Star Wars film is scheduled for release on May 25th, 2018.
