The Smashing Pumpkins wrapped up their In Plainsong tour not too long ago, but it seems frontman Billy Corgan isn’t quite ready to put down his acoustic guitar. Yesterday in Chicago, he and fellow band member Jeff Schroeder staged an intimate gig at Corgan’s local tea shop and studio Madame ZuZu, as Stereogum points out.
Not unlike their surprise-filled trek — which included the debut of a new song and a reunion with James Iha — the set reportedly included covers of Bob Dylan’s “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” and The Velvet Underground’s “Who Loves the Sun”. Corgan & co. also reportedly unfurled renditions of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” and The Rolling Stones’ “Angie”.
