Comedic success doesn’t always look so funny in the new trailer for Don’t Think Twice — watch

on May 24, 2016, 4:50pm

Not to be confused with anything Bob Dylan-related, Don’t Think Twice actually veers away from the songwriter’s affirmation that “It’s alright.” Because as most 20-30-somethings pursuing passion rather than a paycheck know, that’s not always the case. Director and lead actor Mike Birbiglia certainly does.

In his latest directorial effort, Don’t Think Twice chronicles the comedic pitfalls of being in an improv troupe that’s looking for success à la Saturday Night Live. The film’s official trailer, which surfaced today, gives us a peek into how the characters’ keep their audience, and themselves, continuously entertained (even during the most mundane moments, like offering samples of pita chips to uninterested customers). More importantly, it exposes a pretty harsh truth behind all the jokes and humorous stunts: The climb to comedic success doesn’t always look so funny.

Watch it above.

In addition to Birbiglia, Don’t Think Twice stars Keegan Michael-Key Gillian JacobsTami SagherChris Gethard, and Kate Micucci. The film premiered at SXSW back in March, but is finally due to hits theaters on July 22nd via independent company Film Arcade.
