Jack White, in all his peculiar mystique, is the music industry’s own Willy Wonka. White is endlessly working on something surprising and always delivers, from recent collaborations with Beyoncé (on “Don’t Hurt Yourself”) and even the Muppets, to now crafting the theme song for Maya and Marty.

Maya Rudolph and Martin Short’s new variety television show debuts on NBC tonight, but a clip from the theme song has already been shared. The funkified rock theme, written and produced by White, features him on drums and Dean Fertita (backing band member of The Dead Weather, Queens Of The Stone Age, and Iggy Pop) on organ.

Third Man Records also credits Dominic Davis on bass, Lillie Mae Rische on wah wah guitar, and Fats Kaplin on pedal steel guitar. This marks White’s first effort writing music for television, but as of most of his endeavors, so far so good.

Listen to the clip below.
