on May 12, 2016, 9:45am

This summer, England’s Metronomy are returning with their fifth studio effort titled Summer 08. In an interview with BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac, the electronic outfit’s founder Joseph Mount described the follow-up to 2014’s Love Letters as “the most fun thing I’ve done in a long time.” He also said he recorded the LP in just 14 days.

To give fans a taste of what to expect, Metronomy have unlocked lead single “Old Skool” today. Deep grooves and percolating synths lace the track, as well as added contributions from Beastie Boys’ turntable maestro Mix Master Mike.

Stream it below via BBC Radio 1.

Update: The official video for “Old Skool” has been revealed. Directed by Dawn Shadforth, it captures a wild, ’70s-era house party.

Summer 08 is expected to hit shelves on July 1st.
