Stone Temple Pilots are still in the process of finding a replacement singer for the late Scott Weiland and his previous fill-in, Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington. (It certainly won’t be Scott Stapp, that’s for sure.) At at the Adopt the Arts benefit concert in at Los Angeles’ The Fonda on Thursday, however, STP did find a temporary substitute.
As Alternative Nation reports, the band’s guitarist and bassist brothers Dean and Robert DeLeo were joined by Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor, along with Guns N’ Roses/Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum. The one-off (potentially?) supergroup performed the Stone Temple Pilots’ classic track “Sex Type Thing”. There’s one video above, and another below that goes on slightly longer.
The DeLeo brothers also stayed on stage to cover Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition” with Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers on drums, The Cult keyboardist Damon Fox, Mick jagger’s guitarist Stevie Salas, and legendary Deep Purple frontman Glenn Hughes. Check out that performance below.
