Last weekend, Chadwick Boseman made his epic debut as Black Panther in Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War. Now, things are heating up for the hero’s proper standalone film by Fruitvale Station and Creed director Ryan Coogler.
Lupita Nyong’o is reportedly in discussion to join Boseman in the forthcoming film. The role for the Oscar winner is undisclosed at the moment, but is said to be a love interest.
In the comics, Black Panther has a romantic connection with Storm of the X-Men, but you know, that obviously can’t happen due to rights issues and what have you. So, it’ll be interesting to see what Coogler has cooked up for her.
Nyong’o recently appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens as Maz Kanata. She’s currently attached to star in DreamWorks’ sci-fi drama Intelligent Life, which Ava DuVernay recently left. Odds are she joins the MCU.
Black Panther will tear up the screen February 2nd, 2018 via Disney.
