Stream: The Claypool Lennon Delirium’s eccentric debut Monolith of Phobos

on May 26, 2016, 3:15pm

A new project titled The Claypool Lennon Delirium combines the odd and enticing worlds of (as you could probably guess) Les Claypool and Sean Lennon. The two announced they had joined forces back in January when they shared their first song “Cricket and the Genie”. The duo has now revealed their debut effort, Monolith of Phobos, will arrive June 3rd from ATO Records.

The 11-track album fuses Lennon’s psychedelic sensibilities with Claypool’s alternative air, resulting in a record that sounds post-apocalyptic and futuristic at the same time. Their sound is fleshed out by keyboardist Mark “Money Mark” Ramos Nishita (Beastie Boys) and drummer Paul Baldi (Fungi Band).

Following successful tours with Primus and Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger — Claypool and Lennon’s respective bands — the two are gearing up to tour again, this time together. Along with the album announcement came news of an expansive US tour, which promptly begins the day after the album’s scheduled release.
