Not a good weekend for Wendell Pierce. The Wire’s own Detective William “Bunk” Moreland was arrested Saturday afternoon following an altercation outside of Atlanta’s Loews Hotel.
According to TMZ, the 52-year-old actor was conversing with a couple before things turned heated and political, to which he pushed the boyfriend and grabbed the girlfriend’s hair. Reportedly, the two were Bernie Sanders supporters, which sparked the attack by Pierce, who’s a devoted Hilary Clinton advocate.
However, as The Hollywood Reporter notes, Atlanta Police Department spokesman Donald Hannah stated that the incident was not significant and treated as “any other arrest.” Online records from Fulton County Jail reveal that Pierce was arrested on a charge of simple battery and eventually released hours later on a $1,000 bond.
An official incident report will surface won’t it’s completed. Rest assured, Pierce probably said something along these lines while in the holding cell…
