Ozzy Osbourne and Slipknot’s Corey Taylor have combined their
evil powers trademark festivals into a single massive weekend metal event to be held this fall. This new monstrosity of a metal festival is called Ozzfest Meets Knotfest and will be held September 24th and 25th at the San Manuel Amphitheater and festival grounds in San Bernardino, California.
Black Sabbath will headline on Saturday, while Slipknot will wreak havoc during Sunday’s top spot. The lineup also includes metal stalwarts Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Opeth, and Disturbed. All told, more than 40 acts are slated to appear at some point throughout the two-day megafest, which will also feature camping and carnival attractions. Full details, including ticketing information, can be found at the festival’s website.
Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy’s manager and recently estranged wife, made the announcement today at a press conference that also featured Black Sabbath’s Geezer Butler, Slipknot’s Shawn “Clown” Crahan, guitarist Zakk Wylde, and members of Anthrax and Hatebreed. In a tip of the cowboy hat to Lemmy Kilmister, the main stage will be paired with a second stage named in honor of the late Motörhead guitarist.
Ozzfest Meets Knotfest will mark the final California concert for Black Sabbath, who set out on their “The End” tour this summer. Slipknot will also be touring North America with Marilyn Manson ahead of the fest.
