AWOLNATION spurn DFA 1979 in favor of Prophets of Rage

on June 21, 2016, 1:42pm

“Sail” rockers AWOLNATION recently found themselves with a real Sophie’s choice: follow through with a previously announced headlining tour with Death From Above 1979, or cancel that trek in favor of a slot opening for Prophets of Rage. They ended up choosing the later, thus leading to the cancelation all of DFA’s scheduled summer dates just days before the tour’s launch.

“We had nothing to do with that decision, but in turn we have decided to not participate in the remaining shows,” DFA 1979 said in a message posted to Facebook. “We scrambled all weekend to try and still make things work, but there simply is no way. As boring and/or square as it is to say, the reality is that the costs of touring are simply too high for us to endeavor on such a short run.”

Along with the addition of AWOLNATION, Prophets have tweaked their upcoming schedule. Shows in Hartford, CT; Wantagh, NY; Noblesville, IN; Burgettstown, PA; and Albuquerque, NM have been canceled in favor of new shows in Montreal and Uncasville, CT. They’ve also confirmed a venue — Agora — for their Cleveland performance taking place during the Republic National Convention.
