It’s been a while since we’ve heard or seen much of the Descendents. Though they reunited at Fun Fun Fun Fest in 2010, their last record was released over a decade ago. That changes this week, however, as the punk legends have announced their upcoming album Hypercaffium Spazzinate will arrive July 29th from Epitaph.
To hold eager fans over, the veteran outfit have released “Victim of Me”, the first single off the record and one that truly runs at a sweaty punk rock pace. In other words, it’s super fast and gets the job done in under two minutes. “I just quit this joke of a life plan,” vocalist Milo Aukerman spits over heavy drumming, his words playing out like an aural middle finger to the world.
“I think one of the things that’s kept us inspired over the years is having the music as an outlet for our frustrations,” Aukerman says in a statement. “Having the freedom to completely blow my voice out every time I recorded was a very positive experience for me.”

Hypercaffium Spazzinate marks the band’s return to Epitaph and their first release on the independent label since the 1996 record Everything Sucks. They put out one full-length since then, 2004’s Cool to Be You, which arrived after a seven-year wait via Fat Wreck Chords.
