When director Cameron Crowe says he has a story about the music industry, you listen to him. (After all, Almost Famous is more or less the reason most of us are writing about music today, as cliche as that sounds.) Which is why we’re admittedly pretty psyched about his upcoming Showtime dramedy, Roadies.
If you’re in the dark, here’s the official synopsis:
“Roadies gives an insider’s look at the reckless, romantic, funny and often poignant lives of a committed group of “roadies” who live for music and the de facto family they’ve formed along the way. The music-infused ensemble comedy series chronicles the rock world through the eyes of music’s unsung heroes and puts the spotlight on the backstage workers who put the show on the road while touring the United States for a successful arena-level band.”
Crowe, who serves as creator, writer, director, and executive producer, is joined by executive producers J.J. Abrams and Winnie Holtzman. Luke Wilson (Old School, Enlightened), Carla Gugino (Watchmen, Spy Kids), and Imogen Poots (28 Weeks Later) have starring roles.
Ahead of its June 26th premiere date, Showtime has unlocked the first episode. They’ve blurred out the nudity and there’s no swearing — apparently, the Internet can’t handle such things — but it’s all there to watch above.
