The current iteration of Guns N’ Roses is about as close to a classic lineup as we’ve seen in almost two decades. But it’s not quite the classic one. Guitarist Izzy Stradlin has been a noticeable (and vocal) holdout of the reformed group. Still, that doesn’t mean there’s bad blood between Stradlin and all his former GNR bandmates, and now he’s holding a little reunion of his own.
In a (rare) message on Twitter, Stradlin revealed that he’d re-teamed with former GNR drummer Matt Sorum on a new single called “F.P. Money”. In the post, he recalled how he and Sorum “crossed paths earlier this year” and decided to try recording together again. He added, “Matt Sorum is on drums, Damon Fox on keys, Tony Babylon on bass, Rick Richards on lead guitars. Me … guitars, vocals. Recorded and mixed at Brotheryn Studios. JT Longoria, engineer/mixing. Jason Mariani mastering. Available everywhere July 2016. Cheers!”
Sorum also commented on the forthcoming track via Facebook. “It was great to reconnect again and make Rock N Roll with this great singer, songwriter, guitarist and all around cool dude,” he wrote. “Music for music’s sake, it was really organic and fun.”
Though the “F.P. Money” isn’t due till next month, Stradlin previewed it with a brief snippet on Twitter. Check that out below, followed by both musician’s full remarks on the track.
