ScHoolboy Q’s “Tookie Knows II” video is an intense pawn shop robbery — watch

on June 30, 2016, 2:20pm

ScHoolboy Q’s last album was massive, as it had to be to push him out of Kendrick Lamar’s giant shadow. But judging by the two clips we’ve seen from his upcoming album Blank Face, Q’s follow-up will be even more sprawling and cinematic. The TDE rapper just dropped the nearly nine-minute video for “Tookie Knows II” and it’s an intense recreation of a pawn shop robbery and the fallout that comes from it.

Far from glorifying the scene, the robbery staged by the gang of Blank Faces is shot in a close and tense style. The group are quickly apprehended in a raid by police, with Q getting snatched up for merely being in the area.

The video serves as the sequel to the equally long video for “By Any Means” while the track itself is a follow-up to a song off of Q’s star-making 2012 album Habits & Contradictions.

Blank Face drops on July 8th. Last night, he performed the album’s first single “THat Place” on Colbert.
