Fresh off his bullshit Emmy snub for Show Me a Hero, Oscar Isaac gets to wave his sexy Guatemalan middle fingers at the voters as he’s just signed on to star in Steven Spielberg’s The Kidnapping of Edgardo Montara.
One of a thousand projects the filmmaker has under his belt, the film tells the true 19th century story of an Italian Jewish boy, who’s been forcibly taken from his family to be raised a Christian. Yeah, this one’s not a fantasy tale.
Spielberg’s go-to playwright Tony Kushner adapted the story from David I. Kertzer’s 1998 novel, which will also star recent Oscar thief Mark Rylance. Shooting will begin early next year once Spielberg’s done with Ready Player One.
In the meantime, the filmmaker’s latest, The BFG, continues to be cruelly ignored in theaters. See where it ranks in his entire catalogue with our extensive, exhaustive, and inarguably lengthy Dissected feature.
