Prophets of Rage premiere fierce debut single — listen

on July 18, 2016, 11:00am

Last month, Tom Morello assured fans that Prophets of Rage would be releasing new music before hitting the road for their stateside “Making American Rage Again” tour. Today, the supergroup — rounded out by Rage Against the Machine bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk, along with Chuck D of Public Enemy and Cypress Hill’s B-Real — have followed through on their promise, releasing debut single “Prophets of Rage”.

The furious track is an updated version of Public Enemy’s It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back track “Prophets of Rage” — from which the all-star band takes its name — and includes a new bar from B-Real.

The self-titled single coincides with the start of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, where Prophets of Rage are scheduled to wreak havoc this week. In addition to the song and a paid concert at the Agora on Tuesday night, the band will stage a free concert Monday afternoon at 1416 E 47th Street.

“Prophets of Rage” is reportedly taken from an upcoming EP, slated to drop later this year.
