Ryan Adams famously covered “Wonderwall” by Oasis over a decade ago in 2003. The singer-songwriter still has the Gallagher brothers on his mind, though, as his set in Pittsburgh this past Wednesday proved. Toward the end of his 21-song set, Adams and backing band the Shining did the British outfit proud with back-to-back covers of “Morning Glory” and “Supersonic”.

Though faithful, rockin’ renditions, there was clearly a missed opportunity for collaboration that evening — Noel “potato” Gallagher’s High Flying Birds project had opened the bill, but was nowhere to be found during Adams’ pair of takes. For what it’s worth, Noel has always been a big fan of Adams’ “Wonderwall” reworking. “I think Ryan Adams is the only person who ever got that song right,” he said in a 2008 interview with SPIN.
