Ryan Adams revisits “Oh My Sweet Carolina” on Colbert — watch

on July 26, 2016, 10:30am

Ryan Adams has spent a good chunk of the last two weeks playing unique covers for his audiences. At one show, he covered Oasis’ “Morning Glory” and “Supersonic” for the first time ever; and at Newport Folk Fest this past weekend, he reimagined Slayer and Black Sabbath songs¬†as Bluegrass standards.

However, during his appearance on Colbert last night, Adams turned the focus back on his own material to give fans something special: He dusted off his 2000 Heartbreaker track “Oh My Sweet Carolina”. It was an intimate and sweet performance as well as a nice throwback moment, especially considering most artists usually play newer stuff off their repertoire when they hit up the late-night circuit.

Catch it above. For the performance, Adams was joined by Infamous Stringdusters and Nicki Bluhm, who also accompanied him at Newport Folk Festival over the weekend.
