Smiths/Cranberries supergroup D.A.R.K. unveil twisted new track “Gunfight” — listen

on July 27, 2016, 2:30pm

In March, music fans were introduced to a new supergroup called D.A.R.K., comprised of The Smiths bassist Andy Rourke, The Cranberries singer Dolores O’Riordan, and New York based producer-songwriter Olé Koretsky. The group was quick to announce their debut album, Science Agrees, and today have shared a new preview of the upcoming release in the form of “Gunfight”.

The track begins with O’Riordan’s haunting “oohs” before stating matter-of-fact lyrics such as “we’re all gonna die” in an uninflected tone. While the track’s dark content is comparable to that of The Smiths and The Cranberries previous work, the uptempo track otherwise diverges from either band’s signature sound. Listen to it above.

“Gunfight” was preceded by “Curvy”, the band’s debut single, and “Loosen the Noose”.
