Although Courtney Barnett’s Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit dropped well over a year ago, the breakthrough debut is back in the spotlight this month. Last week, Barnett shared the music video for “Elevator Operator”, featuring cameos from Sleater-Kinney and Jeff Tweedy. Now, just days later, its excellent lead single “Pedestrian at Best” has been given the cover treatment by none other than punk icon Kathleen Hanna and her band The Julie Ruin.

As Stereogum points out, The Julie Ruin tackled the track during their show at Chicago’s Thalia Hall last night, with Hanna and keyboardist Kenny Mellman trading lines. The onstage presence of Barnett and Hanna aren’t all that similar, but the effect is the same: good, sweaty, and spirited fun.

Check out the fan-caught footage up above.

The Julie Ruin are currently on the road in support of their new record, Hit Reset. Earlier this week, they appeared on Seth Meyers to perform “I Decide”.
