Lady Gaga’s appearance during Tame Impala’s FYF Fest set may have grabbed all the headlines, but that wasn’t the only set to feature a surprise guest. In fact, one of the things that made Blood Orange’s set one of the best of the whole festival was how guest-heavy it was.
Dev Hynes seemed to hit up everyone in his contacts list with two x chromosomes that he could find to lend a hand, welcoming out a string of collaborators. Carly Rae Jepsen appeared first for their Freetown Sound collaboration “Better Than Me”. Then it was Zuri Marley on “Love Ya”, Sky Ferreira on “You’re Not Good Enough” off Cupid Deluxe, and Empress Of for another Freetown Sound duet, “Best to You”. Just when you thought there wasn’t any more space left for another big-name guest, Nelly Furtado stepped out for their cassette-only single “Hadron Collider”.
It was a literal hits parade, and one you can revisit in the videos above (Ferreira) and below (Jepsen, Furtado, and Empress Of).
