Robert Zemeckis didn’t exactly connect with audiences last year with The Walk. Despite starring uber indie hunk Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the film adaptation of the Oscar-winning documentary, Man on Wire, was in and out of theaters faster than Philippe Petit’s epic stroll between the World Trade Center towers.
Now, the veteran filmmaker returns with another blast from the past, one that comes supercharged with even more star power: the ever-hunky Brad Pitt and the ever-beautiful Marion Cotillard. It’s called Allied and tells the true story of two WWII spies who fall in love and marry during a mission to kill a German Nazi dickhead.
Based on the syrupy trailer, the film promises plenty of decadent sex, love, and intrigue, all the stuff left out of those lame history books your school made you read long ago. In addition to Pitt and the Cotes, the drama stars Lizzy Caplan, Matthew Goode, and Jared Harris. Good Christ, someone get me a cold glass of tea.
Watch the trailer above and take your folks to see it on November 23rd.
