Deafheaven will open for Slipknot, had best bring the ruckus

There’s always been a charming (or should we say lethal?) awkwardness to San Francisco metal group Deafheaven, who don’t quite fit the image of a traditional heavy metal band even if their music is just as brutal. It looks like Deafheaven will finally get the chance to prove their bona fides to the headbanging masses, because they’re opening for Slipknot for three shows in September. The announcement even comes with a poster that will take you straight back to middle school.

If Deafheaven really want to fit in, they’ll want to make sure not to have their cell phones out during Slipknot’s performance. Corey Taylor doesn’t like that much.
