Florence and The Machine share Songs From Final Fantasy XV EP — listen

on August 12, 2016, 11:05am

Back in March, Florence and The Machine revealed their cover of Ben E. King’s classic “Stand by Me”, recorded for the forthcoming video game Final Fantasy XV. Today, the rest of their contributions to the soundtrack have been released as a three-track EP entitled Songs From Final Fantasy XV.

In addition to “Stand by Me”, the collection features two new tracks. The nearly six-minute “Too Much is Never Enough” is a rousing baroque pop epic that fits in as well with anything else Florence has released as it does with the fantasy world of the game. “I Will Be”, meanwhile, begins as a relatively sparse ballad that slowly raises its proud head over marching drums and stirring orchestration.

“I’ve always seen Final Fantasy as a beautiful and creative game so I don’t think I could have worked with another video game,” Florence Welch explained in a statement. “It wouldn’t have made sense. In some ways the landscape of Final Fantasy and my own internal landscape seemed to fit quite well, it’s mythical and beautiful and epic.”

Take a listen to all three songs below via Spotify, or purchase Songs From Final Fantasy XV on iTunes.
