Last year, Austin City Limits gave us memorable live performances from such acts as The War on Drugs, TV on the Radio, and Courtney Barnett. The series’ new season is scheduled to kick off in less than two months, and as a teaser, its Lauryn Hill-focused episode has been unveiled.
Over the course of her dazzling set, Ms. Hill rattled off Fugees cuts (“Ready or Not”, “Killing Me Softy”, “How Many Mics”), as well as a string of solo tracks taken from her iconic 1998 debut album, Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, including “Doo Wop (That Thing)”, “Lost Ones”, and “Final Hour”. Additionally, she performed her cover of Nina Simone classic “Feeling Good”, which she’d previously recorded for the 2015 tribute album, Nina Revisited, and her MTV Unplugged 2.0 selection “The Mystery of Iniquity” as a web exclusive. Watch the episode in full above.
The 42nd season of Austin City Limits premieres on October 1st. Paul McCartney, My Morning Jacket, Iggy Pop, Florence and the Machine, and Robert Plant are among the other artists who are expected to appear.
Hill, meanwhile, will kick off a new leg of North American tour dates later this month.
