South Park creators debut their own VR device — the Nosulus Rift

on August 12, 2016, 12:25pm

Virtual reality is tech’s latest craze, but thus far the immersive experience has been limited to audio and video. Leave it to Trey Parker and Matt Stone to bring the smell.

To coincide with the upcoming launch of their latest video game, South Park: The Fractured But Whole, the comedic duo have unveiled their very own VR experience — the Nosulus Rift. As the name suggests, this immersive experience involves the nose — in the most disgusting way possible.

In The Fractured But Whole, gamers play as The New Kid, whose special abilities include “the power of your ass.” Because “the only way to really help people experience that strength is to really make sure that they can feel it and that means getting really close,” they hired the best noses in the business to create a unique “perfume” that is sprayed directly into players’ noses. I told you it was disgusting.

The Nosulus Rift will apparently make its worldwide debut at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany later this month. In the meantime, you can watch a very detailed making-of video below.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole is due out December 6th, 2016.
