The Avalanches curate Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 — listen

on August 27, 2016, 2:55pm

The Avalanches returned earlier this year with Wildflower, the first album in 15 years. It’s been just as long since the Australian outfit curated an “Essential Mix” for BBC Radio 1. That changes today, however, as The Avalanches take over the radio airwaves with a 45-minute playlist that includes music from Frank Zappa, Sun Ra, Ratatat, Nina Simone, Betty Everett, The Parliaments, Madlib, The Stooges, Bad Brains, and more. Listen to their new mix at BBC’s website (where you can also find the full tracklist). Their previous one — dating back to December 11th, 2001 — can be found below.
