Despite his hulking visage, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson comes off as a completely pleasant and congenial fellow. But as he nears the end of filming the latest entry in the Fast and the Furious franchise, Fast 8, he appears ready to put a shine on the People’s Elbow.
In an Instagram post accompanied by a clip of his Luke Hobbs character straight jacking a dude, Johnson went off on some of his co-stars. He complimented the film’s “incredible hard working crew,” Universal, and his female co-stars, but added, “My male co-stars however are a different story. Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t. The ones that don’t are too chicken shit to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses.”
Though he didn’t call out any of the film’s male actors — which include Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, Lucas Black, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and Scott Eastwood — by name, he said viewers will be able to tell when they see the movie. “When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling – you’re right,” he wrote. He went on to say that the producer in him is glad he doesn’t get along so well with whomever he’s referring to, since “it’ll play great for the movie.”
I’ve never seen a Fast and Furious movie in my life, but suddenly I think I’m gonna need to do a marathon before Fast 8 hits theaters on April 14th, 2017.
Update: According to TMZ, Johnson’s comments were directed at Diesel. As a producer of the film, Diesel “made decisions that didn’t sit well” with Johnson. Yesterday, the two had an on-set meeting “partly because tensions were running so high it was almost impossible to shoot scenes. We do not know if they resolved their issues,” TMZ adds.
