Jack White and Cat Stevens perform together in Nashville — watch

At New York’s Global Citizen Fest last weekend, Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam was joined onstage by none other than Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder. That’s not the only rock frontman Stevens is friendly with these days, apparently.

During the veteran songwriter’s concert at the Ryman in Nashville last night — his first in Music City in four decades — local hero Jack White showed up guitar in hand to help out on Stevens’ 1970 track “Where Do the Children Play”. It was a solemn rendition complete with tender harmonizing.

Later in the evening, Stevens was graced by another special guest in fellow folk artist Will Oldham, aka Bonnie “Prince” Billy. Together they offered up encore performances of Stevens’ “Welcome Home” and the Islam cut “All Kinds of Roses”.
