Donald Trump will undoubtely play a yuuuge role in Saturday Night Live’s upcoming 42nd season. As such, show creator Lorne Michaels is bringing in some outside help.
Baldwin will make his debut as Trump on the show’s season premiere, set for this coming Saturday, October 1st. In anticipation, Baldwin (as Trump) stars in a new promo alongside his chief rival, Hillary Clinton (played by Kate McKinnon). Watch above.
Baldwin is by no means a stranger to SNL as he’s hosted the show a record-setting 16 times over the years. Michaels also served as the executive producer of 30 Rock, which starred Baldwin and former SNL cast members Tina Fey and Tracy Morgan.
As The Hollywood Reporter explains, Baldwin has signed on for a full season of appearances, “an arrangement is similar to the casting last season of Larry David to play Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders over multiple episodes.” David ended up receiving an Emmy nomination for his performance.
Daryl Hammond, who played Trump last season, will remain with SNL as the show’s announcer.
As mentioned, SNL season 41 kicks off Saturday with host Margot Robbie and musical guest The Weeknd. The following week will feature Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda as host, with Twenty One Pilots tapped to perform music.
