Solange quite literally took the world by storm earlier this month with her surprise album A Seat at the Table. Her first LP in almost a decade has since garnered praise from various corners of the industry, including a special cosign from the one and only Common. “Every once and a few years, there are certain songs that come out and have the sound of forever,” he told FADER. “‘Cranes in the Sky’ is that song for me. Every time I listened to it, I keep wanting to hear it again and again.”
The repeated plays eventually motivated the “Glory” rapper to whip up a new reworking of the song, complete with his own added verse. “She seen pain in my eye/ Men and women at work/ Cranes in the sky/ We gonna keep building/ For our children’s children,” he can be heard rhyming, injecting yet another powerful layer to the original. “This is an unofficial remix simply inspired by the love of art.”
