The music scene in most of the world moves at a ridiculous clip, with bands rising and falling seemingly every other day. To stay relevant, it behoves an artist to constantly be churning out records; a three- or four-year gap and suddenly folks are talking about a “comeback”. Things move a little slower down in Mexico, where the scene doesn’t suffer from oversaturation. There, a powerhouse outfit like TITAN can take their time with new material so when they return with their first new album in 10 years, they return stronger than ever.
That’s the case with the electronic rockers’ latest album, DAMA. The follow-up to 2005’s self-titled effort came together “because the planets aligned,” the band said in a press release. “The conditions we wanted to make the new album were the ones we were looking for some years ago: economic independence, amazing recording studio, incredible producer, great collaborations.”
One of those collaborators is the great Gary Numan. The new wave and electronic pioneer guests on “Dark Rain”, a pulsing, clawing declaration of loneliness. “I’m drifting/ Like clouds that have no home,” Numan sings in his uniquely dripping voice. “I’m sinking/ Like everyone who’s alone.” Take a listen to the track below.
