Throughout each of their seven albums, including the recently released WALLS, Nashville’s Kings of Leon serve up polished, radio-ready Southern rock. When they guest on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge, however, a different side of the group seems to come out — one that really has a soft spot for pop music.
During an appearance in 2013, Kings of Leon offered up a pretty darn good cover of Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own”; now, for their most recent Live Lounge session, the Followill brothers rolled out a smoldering take on the Selena Gomez hit “Hands to Myself”. Gomez is well-versed in sultry, late-night temptations (see also “Good For You”), as are Kings of Leon (“Sex on Fire”, “Use Somebody”), so this match-up is surprisingly not all that strange.
