Stream: Green Day’s new album Revolution Radio

on October 07, 2016, 12:15pm

Today, Green Day return with their latest album, Revolution Radio. It’s available on all the usual digital services; Spotify and Apple users can stream it in full below.

The new collection serves as Green Day’s 12th full-length to date and the follow-up to 2012’s ill-fated trilogy, ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré!. It’s also the first self-produced effort since Warning in 2000.

According to Billie Joe Armstrong, the LP naturally has ties to today’s current political state. “I can only go from my own personal life, but this is the most chaos I’ve ever seen in an election,’ the frontman told Rolling Stone. “It’s just so freaky. I don’t want to add more of the outrage or anger. I’d just try to reflect it.”

“Everybody’s freaked out,” he continued. “Nobody can rationalize with each other because everybody is stuck in fear and in anger, and there’s nothing in between. In a nutshell, that is what the record reflects.”

In his review of the album, Collin Brennan describes it as “confused and average,” concluding: “What sinks Revolution Radio toward the bottom of Green Day’s discography is its insistence on backing away when the ground starts to crumble. This version of Green Day would rather spin in circles than sail off into the abyss, and that’s not a version we’re prepared to defend.”
