Weezer follows up presidential debate with performance of “I Love the USA” on James Corden — watch

on October 20, 2016, 10:05am

Believe it or not, the presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Cheeto Voldemort featured only the second and third most patriotic performances on television last night. Top honors went to Weezer, who stopped by the Late Late Show with James Corden to show what it looks like to really love America. Rivers Cuomo and co. blasted through their new single “I Love the USA”, a song they originally recorded to celebrate NASA’s Juno Mission to Jupiter. It meant something a little different in this context, however. Coming after one of the most depressing presidential debates in US history, it served as just a tiny reminder that things aren’t really all that bad. Or something.

“I Love the USA” appears on the deluxe edition of Weezer’s latest LP, The White Album. The band recently released a video for the song featuring comedian Patton Oswalt.
