A couple of months ago, Paramount dropped five teaser trailers for its forthcoming live-action adaptation of the legendary manga series, Ghost in the Shell. Now, they’ve finally released a proper trailer and, to be quite honest, we’re a little blown away.
Director Rupert Sangers (Snow White and the Huntsman) appears to have torn a page from Ridley Scott or Luc Besson as this world looks as dense and diverse as both Blade Runner and The Fifth Element. Those visuals around the city alone, oh boy.
Scarlett Johansson plays the Major, a Special Ops cyborg that’s part of Section 9, an elite task force tasked with fighting the baddest of the bad guys. At her side, or against her, is a healthy cast that includes Juliette Binoche, Michael Pitt, Beat Takeshi Kitano, Pilou Asbæk, Kaori Momoi, Chin Han, Danusia Samal, Lasarus Ratuere, Yutaka Izumihara, and Tuwanda Manyimo.
Catch the trailer above and the film come March 31st, 2017.
