Carrie Fisher had just one request for her obituary (that we report she was strangled by her own bra)

on December 27, 2016, 6:10pm

Carrie Fisher was a woman of great intellect, wit, and charm. She was also self-deprecating as hell.

In her 2008 autobiographical novel, Wishful Drinking, Fisher recounted how on the first day of filming A New Hope, director George Lucas informed her that there’s “no underwear in space.” Gold bikinis, however, are OK.

“You go into space and you become weightless,” Fisher recalled Lucas saying. “Then your body expands but your bra doesn’t, so you get strangled by your own underwear.”

Years later, Fisher thought that story would make for a “fantastic obituary,” writing in her book, “I tell my younger friends that no matter how I go, I wanted it reported that I drowned in moonlight, strangled by my own bra.”

Well, Princess, your wish is our command.

Carrie Fisher died Tuesday. The 60-year-old Star Wars actress drowned in moonlight, strangled by her own bra.
