Ryan Gosling and director Damien Chazelle will work to recreate the magic of La La Land on their next joint feature: an upcoming Neil Armstrong biopic called First Man. The 36-year-old actor had been “orbiting” the project since 2015, but his involvement is now officially a go, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Expected to begin shooting next year, the film is based on James Hansen’s 2005 biography, First Man: A Life Of Neil A. Armstrongand will recount NASA’s historic mission to put a man on the moon, specifically the period from 1961 to 1969. Josh Singer (Spotlight) is helming the script, and Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, both known for their work on the Twilight and Maze Runner franchises, have been tagged as producers.

Update – March 7th: First Man has given an October 12th, 2018 release date.
