Angel Olsen has directed each of the videos supporting her incredible 2016 album, My Woman. The clips have so far lined up with her lightly tongue-in-cheek personality, what with the silver wigs and rollerskating in “Shut Up Kiss Me” or the play on fame and more silver wigs in “Intern”. Though Olsen once again stands behind and in front of the lens for her “Pops” video, the vibe is something rather different.
And fittingly so, as “Pops” is perhaps the most classically composed ballad of the entire album and includes the lyrics, “I’m not playing anymore.” As such, the video, co-directed by frequent collaborator Jethro Waters, is rather stark and simple, showing the singer-songwriter in various vignettes looking alternatively lost and lonely.
