It’s been over three long years since London Grammar released their stellar debut album, If You Wait, but 2017 is shaping up to be a comeback year for the English indie pop group. After making their return with the stirring ballad “Rooting For You”, the trio goes two for two with a new single and accompanying video for “Big Picture.”
The track is produced by Brian Eno collaborator and talented solo artist in his own right, Jon Hopkins. Like “Rooting For You”, it focuses on lead singer Hannah Reid’s powerful vocals, but the scattered guitar chords of Dan Rothman combine with the restrained synth and subtle percussion of Dot Major to give the track an ethereal quality.
The video is directed by Sophie Muller, who’s worked with the likes of Beyoncé and Coldplay. It features the band in the wilderness, backed by a beautiful night sky and flashing, colorful imagery as they perform the song. Check it out above.
Details about London Grammar’s upcoming sophomore album are expected shortly. Look for them to perform the new material at summer and fall festival dates, including Lollopalooza Paris and Berlin, as well as Helsinki’s Flow Festival and Scotland’s TRNSMT Festival.
