Well, that escalated quickly. Just a couple months ago, Kendrick Lamar had but a single tour stop, Coachella, and people figuring it would just be a final appearance for the tour he was bringing to fests like FYF and Panorama last year. Then the Damn. rollout happened, Lamar dropped one of the best albums of the year, and he blew people away with his sets on the polo fields. The result is the most anticipated tour of the summer. With Travis Scott, a superstar that is nearly able to command his own arena tour, and D.R.A.M. in tow, Lamar is keeping his festival appearances slim (only a stop at Festival d’été de Québec is remaining) while plotting out a major-city sampling of the US and Canada. Only New York and LA get multiple dates, giving this run from one of music’s most exciting young artists a particular prestige. Next stop: stadiums. –Philip Cosores
