The Raconteurs

The Raconteurs

The Raconteurs are an American rock band formed in 2005 by Jack White, Brendan Benson, Jack Lawrence, and Patrick Keeler. At the time of the group’s formation, White had garnered international attention by way of The White Stripes, his group with Meg White. Additionally, Lawrence and Keeler were former members of the Cincinnati-based group The Greenhornes.

Although The Raconteurs have origins in Detroit, they are now based out of Nashville. Their first album, 2006’s Broken Boy Soldiers, was followed by extensive touring, including a brief stint opening for Bob Dylan. Their second album, Consolers of the Lonely, arrived in 2008 and received a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Album. After touring in support of the album, the group’s future became uncertain, with further recordings and performances seeming unlikely. Almost a decade later, in late 2018, the band released two newly recorded singles on a 7” to accompany a reissue of Consolers and shortly thereafter announced a new album, titled Help Us Stranger, due out June 21, 2019. The record received a positive review from Consequence of Sound, and the band spent the remainder of 2019 touring the album both at live shows and festivals.
