Masterpiece Reviews: Radiohead – “Kid A”

on May 17, 2016, 5:45pm

Welcome to the latest edition of Masterpiece Reviews. Once again, we’ve thrown on our favorite velvet robe, turned up the fire, and are here to regale you with stories of the greatest and most classic albums of all time. It’s a fresh, new perspective on why these albums are filed under “M” for masterpiece.

Following the resounding success of their third album, OK Computer, and subsequent world tour that followed, Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke sought to make a record unlike anything the band had previously recorded. Replacing guitars and conventional melodies with glitchy electronics, instruments from the 1920s, and swirling rhythms, Kid A was initially a divisive release. The drastic change to their sound, however, would eventually be embraced by critics and fans alike. Nowadays, many consider the LP to be among Radiohead’s greatest works. But how did it all come to be? Check out Masterpiece Reviews: OK Computer above.
