Welcome, rocker nation, to the newest episode of Rock it Out! Blog. Every Friday, host Sami Jarroush rounds together an esteemed panel of critics, musicians, and comedians to discuss the week’s biggest headlines.
Typically, we film each episode at the studios of JBTV in downtown Chicago. This week, however, we’re coming to you from SXSW, and thus, we’ve rounded together an extra special panel of guests. Joining Consequence of Sound Editor-in-Chief Michael Roffman are actor/filmmaker Colin Hanks, whose new documentary on Tower Records, All Things Must Pass, premiered at SXSW, and King Tuff frontman Kyle Thomas, who performed at our annual day party CoSigns IV.
They discuss their SXSW experiences thus far, including the best bands and films they’ve seen. We also go in depth with Hanks about his documentary and the reasons he decided to make it. For the final segment, we discuss the shutting down of the online vinyl company Insound, and how vinyl directly affects each of the panelists.
This week’s episode also includes a few sneak peaks at some of interviews we’ve done while at SXSW, including our chat with Henry Rollins, and Natalie Prass showing off her action figures that appeared on stage while performing at CoSigns IV.
