Steve Harris Talks British Lion, New Album The Burning, and Early Iron Maiden Shows

on January 14, 2020, 1:45pm

Steve Harris is a true heavy metal legend. The bassist founded Iron Maiden back in 1975, and is still going strong with the iconic metal act. While Maiden continue to soar, Harris has branched out with another band, the hard-rock act British Lion.

British Lion are set to unleash their sophomore album, The Burning, on January 17th. The LP marks the first that the outfit is releasing under the band name British Lion, after the debut disc was released as a Steve Harris solo project. Essentially, though, it’s the same band.

Harris recently stopped by for a video interview with Heavy Consequence, telling us about the decision to give the project a band name, going from playing stadiums with Maiden to intimate clubs with British Lion, and delving into a few of the songs from The Burning. As he spoke about British Lion, he also recalled some of the early days of Maiden, when they played in front of smaller crowds themselves.

To see what Harris had to say about the aforementioned topics, watch our video interview above.

British Lion will embark on a monthlong U.S. tour beginning January 18th in Orlando, Florida. See the dates below, and order the new album, The Burning, via various outlets.
